There's a lot of debate on whether the characters of dbz is strong enough to lift planets! The problem with that is that a lot of dbz fans believe that the z fighters are invincible beings with god like powers (like superman and galactus), but in reality they are just heavily trained to control their ki. But back to my question, is anyone in dbzverse strong enough to lift up planets?

If they could, they would just boot the bad guys in space ,lift the planet and throw it out of harms way. |

Oh no, nobody in the DBZ universe is moving a planet. They're shown to have difficulty pushing a few thousand tons, much less the milliions upon billions of megatons the planet is made up of. You want to talk about moving planets, talk to Silver Age Superman tugging a line of freaking planets (Yes, plural) on a damn chain. |

I'd like a chain that tough.^ But no, nobody in DBZ is capable of lifting a planet, not even Vegetto. |

Of course they can push a planet. but only assuming the planet is made of a un-compacting material that is not affect in any way by a gravitational pull, thus rendering the planet 'weightless'in the vacuum of space. Of course, if they tried to push a planet like Earth, they would be far more likely to just sink into the planet rather than move it. Plus they wouldn't have the strength to push it out of its gravitational course. Physics'd Edited by Crashbreaka, Sep 16 2012, 10:11 PM.

I'm a huge DBZ fan and I can tell you no one is moving planets like supes, but they are godly in their own ways I posted something about their ton lifting abilities but those are just calculations lol, that said they can still defeat beings capable of those kind of feats, but they are easily over the 100+ ton range.

I think they could move a planet quite easily if they didn't collapse into the planet by pushing it. If Goku, who I believe has the strength to move a planet by Captain Ginyu saga easily, tries to push the planet, he'll sink into the ground and not move it. |

So he just got that much weaker by the Buu saga? How does a guy go from being able to push planets with ease to struggling with 40 tons on his limbs? Is the planet only big enough to fit all fans of Yamcha onto it? ;D |

Well considering none of them besides Buu, Cell, or Fireza can breathe in space, no |

If you ask me, that was Goku only using his base strength, eg. Not incorporating his ki into his strength. Also, gravity on that planet would probably been around 10-100 times Earths gravity. I will never believe 40 tonnes is a big deal for Goku. Especially when he is seen pushing 300+ tonne boulders in Dragon Ball. Edited by Crashbreaka, Sep 20 2012, 09:40 PM.

Were they stated to be 300+ ton boulders, or do you just assume they were? |

they might be able to move a planet by blasting it with energy or something but not "lift it" in the sense that you are talking. And if they tried they would just break into the ground. Think of trying to push a marshmallow the size of a house with your finger. You would just go into it. |

Anyone with any knowledge of eastern martial arts knows that ki energy can be used from within you and with training, outside of you (such as ki blast for dbz). If you can destroy a planet with a ki blast (or move it) then you can do so with your hands and strength. The manga has contradicted itself before, you know this and I know this. Maybe Goku had been training for so long that he got tired enough to only use 40-400 (depending on gravity) tons. Or maybe Akira wasn't thinking at ALL. But I know that he got all of his influence of martial arts from various styles of kung fu (and there are hundreds), and being someone who studies this (not just practices, but actually studies and reads) and knowing that no matter what style you enjoy, the way of ki is the same. What you can do with ki on the inside, you can do physically. If a ki blast or push can push a boulder, you can do so physically. It's the same energy. Edited by POOHEAD189, Sep 17 2012, 03:53 AM.

I don't get it. What does that do to prove Goku couldn't lift 40 tons? |
